Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, successfully concluded a fortnight-long series of educational, literary and cultural competitions under its Dikshotsav celebrations, organised in the run-up to the university’s 24th Convocation Ceremony. The events, held from July 1 to 15, were conducted in villages adopted by the university under the guidance of Chancellor and Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh.
The initiative aimed to identify and nurture the hidden talents of students from rural areas by providing them with a meaningful platform to showcase their creativity and encouraging their holistic personality development.
A wide range of competitions, including painting, speech, storytelling, patriotic songs, poetry recitation, folk dance and essay writing, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. Through these activities, participants demonstrated their creativity, confidence, artistic abilities, linguistic skills and cultural awareness. The programmes also sought to strengthen values such as Indian cultural heritage, moral responsibility, social harmony, leadership, teamwork and creative thinking among students.
In his message, Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh emphasised that education extends beyond classroom learning and should focus on the overall development of students. He said literary and cultural activities play a vital role in enhancing creativity, self-confidence, leadership qualities and communication skills. Providing such opportunities to students from rural backgrounds, he added, is an important step towards enabling their talents to gain wider recognition at the national level.

She noted that the events not only brought hidden talents to the forefront but also helped instil a sense of social responsibility, teamwork, healthy competition and appreciation of Indian cultural values.
